Our vision is a world where Reduce, Reuse and Recycle are second nature. A world where people don’t go hungry. A world where people cherish and innately value natural resources.

EMERGE has been at the front line of sustainability and 3Rs practice in Greater Manchester for over two decades, improving people’s lives and upskilling our wider community in the process.

Our charitable activities include running the Greater Manchester operations of FareShare GM in partnership with the national food surplus charity, and our successful Volunteering and Employability Programme. The charity is supported by our sister social enterprise EMERGE Recycling which also runs innovative reclaimed timber workshop Touch Wood.

“EMERGE has been plugging away on the environmental agenda for over two decades, pioneering practical solutions and providing tangible opportunities for people in Greater Manchester to embrace the idea and practice of “the real 3Rs”, waste reduction, reuse and recycling.”

Warren Smith, Lord Lieutenant & Patron of EMERGE

“I’ve known EMERGE from their earliest days when they evolved from a local voluntary pressure group and decided to focus on practical recycling action to create local jobs and retain the wealth of resources in their community. Their story is one of perseverance, innovation, passion and resilience. Their contribution to the Manchester economy and environment is significant for its longevity and accumulated impact.”

Ray Georgeson, Chief Executive, Resource Association
